ANZAC Day falls on 25 April every year, and in 2027 it will once again draw thousands of visitors to the Gallipoli Peninsula for the Dawn Service and the national commemorations that follow.

This guide covers what happens on the day, how attendance works and the practical steps to plan a trip well in advance.

When is ANZAC Day 2027?

ANZAC Day 2027 is on Sunday 25 April. The commemorations centre on the early-morning Dawn Service at the ANZAC Commemorative Site, followed by separate Australian and New Zealand services at Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair.

Most visitors arrive on the peninsula the day before and stay through the overnight vigil.

How attendance works

Attending the Gallipoli services usually involves an organised arrangement that covers transport, the overnight stay and access to the commemorative sites. Crowds are large and logistics are tightly managed.

Because numbers are limited and demand is high, planning months ahead is strongly advised.

Planning your 2027 trip

Combine the commemorations with time to explore the wider battlefield, and build in rest around the overnight vigil, which is cold and long.

Read our packing list and Dawn Service guides to prepare for the conditions on the night.
