March is when the peninsula starts to wake up. Wildflowers appear along the ridgelines and the worst of the winter weather eases into milder, brighter days.

It is also historically significant: 18 March marks the failed Allied naval attempt to force the Dardanelles in 1915.

Spring arrives in March

Daytime temperatures climb to around 13-15C, with green hillsides and early wildflowers. Rain is still possible, so keep a light waterproof handy.

The 18 March naval commemoration

Each year on 18 March, ceremonies in the Dardanelles mark the naval battle that preceded the land campaign. It adds historical weight to a March visit.

Standard day tours and private tours run throughout the month.
